About Overview BenefitsSchool BenefitsFamily

The Tuition Exchange opens doors and creates opportunities through our reciprocal educational scholarship program.

A 501-c3 non-profit association, The Tuition Exchange serves an important purpose: to help our member institutions make a career at their school more attractive and a degree at their school more affordable. Our awards enable the dependents of faculty and staff at participating colleges and universities to significantly defray their higher education costs. And that creates a powerful draw: helping you attract the most talented employees and the highest caliber students.

Chartered in 1954, started with the support of TIAA/CREF and launched with funding from the Ford Foundation for the Advancement of Higher Education, The Tuition Exchange is the oldest and largest program of its kind in the U.S. – some 600+ members strong! And we continue to grow – adding an average of 20 new schools annually.

A Closer Look at The Tuition Exchange
Membership: More than 600 private and public not-for-profit colleges and universities, representing 47 states, the District of Columbia, and several other countries. Some of the nation’s most prestigious institutions are among our members. For details on membership, click here.

Scholarships: The Tuition Exchange scholarships are competitive awards and are not guaranteed. On average, 6,000 scholarships are awarded annually, with amounts averaging about $24,000.

Award Process: The Tuition Exchange process operates similar to “at home” tuition waivers, with the added benefit of being portable to hundreds of other institutions. For a detailed look at the application and award process, click here.

Admission at USC is very competitive, so employees appreciate that their children can use the tuition program at a wide variety of other schools. The diversity of options is especially valued by students who want to experience other areas of the country or are looking for a smaller school environment than they would find here.
